Can you make a pile of old clothes and a few handfuls of hay look like your favorite pop star or historical figure? Or are you the creative type who likes to scare the crows away with something a little more avant-garde?
Well, show us what you can do. We’re looking for the best-dressed scarecrows in the area. If you’re a winner, your straw-filled creation will appear in the Oct. 27 issue of Home – our weekly home and garden section, which comes out every Thursday.
Before you start stuffing, here are the details: Homemade only please – no store-bought scarecrows allowed. Don’t shake the stuffing out of your scarecrow. Keep it around until after we judge, we may ask for a closer look before we declare you a winner.
Enter your scarecrow in one of the following categories: Celebrity, historical figure or avant-garde. One entry per family, please.
Make sure we have your name, address and a daytime phone number where you can be reached. Send in or e-mail a photograph of your scarecrow by 4 p.m. Oct. 20 to The Spokesman-Review, Home/scarecrow contest, 999 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201, or e-mail to home @spokesman.com. For more information, call (509) 459-5153.
