Portland site for title fight

PORTLAND, Ore. – WBC super lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Sharmba Mitchell on Nov. 19 in Portland, the Oregon Sports Authority said Thursday.

The 12-round bout at the Rose Garden Arena will be televised on HBO.

The 28-year-old Mayweather, undefeated in 34 fights, took the WBC 140-pound title from Arturo Gatti in June, and previously held the WBC super featherweight and lightweight belts.

Mitchell, a former 140-pound champion, last fought in June on the undercard of the bout between Mike Tyson and Kevin McBride.

The 35-year-old Mitchell was declared the victor over Chris Smith in five rounds.
