UTEP puts away vagabond Tulane

RUSTON, La. – Jordan Palmer threw three touchdown passes, and Texas-El Paso scored the final 21 points to beat Tulane 45-21 on Friday night in a Conference USA game.

Tulane (2-3, 1-2 C-USA) played its fourth “home” game at its fourth stadium after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

After Tulane closed to 24-21, UTEP (4-1, 2-1) got a 25-yard fumble return for a TD from Jeremy Jones and put the game away in the fourth quarter as Palmer three for a TD and Marcus Thomas had a 9-yard TD run.
