Fairfield City Council – Council members passed an interlocal agreement for emergency services and a resolution to adopt the national incident management system. The town parks have previously closed at dusk; council members voted to allow kids to play basketball in the lower park after dark. Fire District 2 (Fairfield) – Commissioners discussed what money would be available to match funds from a DNR grant to purchase a portable bumper monitor, which allows people inside a fire truck to control water flow, hoses and fittings. Edgecliff SCOPE – Volunteers discussed a neighborhood cleanup day scheduled for today. They also heard a presentation from a SCAPCA representative about the Walking School Bus program. The program uses community volunteers to walk children to school on a set route. A program is being set up at Pratt Elementary. Volunteers are also planning a flu shot clinic from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 25 at the SCOPE office. Medicaid and Medicare patients are free; others are $21. Reservations are needed; call 477-6345.
