EWU Presidential awards announced

The following area residents have recently been awarded a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship for the 2005-06 school year at Eastern Washington University. The scholarship is given to incoming freshman students based on their high school academics. It is renewable for a second year if a 3.5 grade-point average is maintained.

Martha Layton, the daughter of Kevin and Cindy Layton of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Michael Lowe, who is majoring in music education, is the son of Stuart and Teresa Lowe of Greenacres. He is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Natalie Luse, a 2005 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School, is the daughter of Ray and Jan Luse of Spokane.

Laura Mathieson, who is majoring in nursing, is a 2005 graduate of North Central High School. She is the daughter of Timothy and Sandra Mathieson of Spokane.

Kelsey McManis, a 2005 graduate of Rogers High School, is the daughter of Jill Walker of Spokane. She is majoring in secondary education.

Chris Miclat, a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School, is the son of Magdalena Marcelo of Spokane.

Rachelle Moore, the daughter of Dave and Marlaine Moore of Liberty Lake, is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Emina Ogorinac, the daughter of Bego and Zumreta Ogorinac, is a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School.

Reannan Ortman, a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Chet and Jennifer Ortman of Spokane.

Molly Ovens, a 2005 graduate of North Central High School, is the daughter of Nancy Tennant and Rory Ovens, both of Spokane.

Kameron Parks, who is majoring in architecture, is the son of Michael and Shirley Parks of Spokane. He is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Holly Pippenger, the daughter of Dale and Lori Pippenger of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Kristin Polley, a biology major, is the daughter of Ron and Judy Polley of Spokane Valley. She is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Brent Reser, a 2005 graduate of Mead High School, is the son of Thomas and Mary Reser of Spokane.

Kayla Reynolds, the daughter of Mike and Pam Reynolds of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School. She is majoring in nursing.

Wesley Riehle, a 2005 graduate of West Valley High School, is majoring in computer science. He is the son of Wes and Mary Riehle of Spokane.

Michael Russell, a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is the son of Patricia Russell of Spokane.

Cassie Schreiber, the daughter of Dwayne and LaVonne Schreiber of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School.

Jessica Seigendall, who is majoring in education, is a 2005 graduate of University High School. She is the daughter of Lisa Robinson of Spokane and Jay Seigendall of Spokane Valley.

Darlene Soderberg of Sprague, Wash., a pre-veterinary major, is the daughter of Marsha Shaw of Monroe, Wash., and James VanGilder of Spokane. She is a 1985 graduate of Ferris High School.

Elmera Takhtrawan, a 2005 graduate of Shadle Park High School, is majoring in pre-medical biology. She is the daughter of Jila Peyman of Spokane. She also was awarded a $3,000 Academic Scholarship.

Ashley Thomas, the daughter of Annette Dunlap and James Thomas of Mead, is a 2005 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School.

Stacy Tompkins, a 2005 graduate of University High School, is the daughter of Carl and Barbara Tompkins of Spokane. She is majoring in nursing.

Jamie Utesch, a 2005 graduate of University High School, is the daughter of Jeffrey and Theresa Utesch of Veradale. She is majoring in forensic science/chemistry.

Lindsey Vercruyssen, a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Sara Vercruyssen and Jim Vercruyssen, both of Spokane.

Christina Walker, the daughter of Janet and Keith Walker of Spokane, is a biology major. She is a 2005 graduate of North Central High School and also was awarded a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship.

Andrew Wheeler, a 2005 graduate of Ferris High School, is the son of Scott and Peggy Wheeler.

Casey Whitehead, the son of Gerald and Connie Whitehead of Spokane Valley, is a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School.

Cassandra Wilson, a 2005 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the daughter of DeAnn Milnes of Spokane and Darrel Wilson of Deer Park.
