Boise blanks Lake City to open State 5A tournament

Boise earned a berth in the semifinals by shutting out Lake City 3-0 in first-round action of the State 5A girls soccer tournament Thursday at the Capital Soccer Complex in Meridian, Idaho.

The Timberwolves (10-8-3) will take on Skyline in a loser-out consolation matchup today at 3 p.m., also in Meridian.

•St. Maries was routed by Payette 11-0 in the first round of the State 3A girls soccer tournament in Meridian.

Payette moves onto the semifinals while the Lumberjacks (6-11-1) will play Sugar-Salem today at 9:30 a.m. in a loser-out consolation matchup, also in Meridian.

Boys soccer

Bonners Ferry fell to McCall-Donnelly 2-1 in overtime during the first round of the State 3A tournament at the Capital Soccer Complex.

The Badgers (13-3-1) will play Community School today at 9:30 a.m. in loser-out consolation bracket action. McCall-Donnelly advances to the semifinals.
