Moscow finishes season perfect
Kelsey Taylor’s 22 kills and seven blocks helped Moscow cap a 29-0 season with the State 4A volleyball title when the Bears beat Skyview 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-22 Saturday at Lake City High School.
“Kelsey is just a gamer,” Moscow coach Aimee Graham said. “You can probably tell just by watching her, but nobody – NOBODY – wants to win more than Kelsey.”
“In the State 5A tournament, Boise stopped Lake City (20-12) 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 in a loser-out match at Post Falls High School.
“We had no spunk, no energy,” LC coach Jen Owen said. “We’d be OK for three or four plays, but then we’d let (Boise) rattle off series after series. We were always at the losing end of every rally and always behind two or three points.”
Girls soccer
Sunny Katsilometes capped her high school career by heading in a corner kick 90 seconds into overtime to give Century a 2-1 victory over Lakeland in the State 4A title game at the Capital Soccer Complex in Meridian.
“Sandpoint beat Mountain Home 2-0 to win the consolation final at the State 4A tournament at the Capital Soccer Complex.
After losing to Century in the first round Thursday, the Bulldogs shut out their next two opponents to finish the season 14-6-4.
“Lake City (11-9-3) fell to Timberline 1-0 in the consolation final at the State 5A tournament at the Capital Soccer Complex.
Boys soccer
A goal and an assist from Jose Ballesteros sent Skyview of Nampa past Sandpoint (18-2-2) 2-0 in the State 4A final at the Capital Soccer Complex.
