Benefit for cancer kids at Salon 525

The Spokesman-Review

Studio 525 is doing its part for cancer patients.

The hair salon, at 520 S. Pines Road, will host a cut-a-thon on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the hair will be donated to Wigs for Kids, a national nonprofit organization that provides hair replacements to children who are cancer patients and who have lost their own hair.

The event also will feature a barbeque and a raffle ticket sale.

Salon owner Meghan Suda said those who are willing to give away their tresses must have “virgin hair,” which means it should not be colored or chemically processed. The hair should be at least 10 to 12 inches long.

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit both Wigs for Kids and Cancer Care Northwest.

Suda said her father has been a patient at the cancer center.

“It’s very personal to me,” she said, adding that the cut-a-thon was one way for the hair stylists at the salon to help a cause.
