Mt. Spokane rallies to knock off Mead

Nicole Mcklosky scored 2 minutes into the first overtime and Leah Pomante had a goal and an assist as Mt. Spokane went on the road to earn an impressive 3-2 win over Mead in Greater Spokane League girls soccer opener Wednesday.

Alyssa VanNoy opened the scoring in the 10th minute for the Wildcats (2-0, 1-0 GSL). Jamey Etten scored her fifth of the season to tie it in the 25th and assisted on Chelsea Mykines’ goal in the 30th to give the Panthers (2-1, 0-1) a lead heading into halftime.

But Pomante scored in the 55th minute before setting up Mcklosky for the game winner in the 82nd minute to send Mt. Spokane home a winner.

In other GSL openers, Mya Kohls-Chase got the game winner in a shootout as Lewis and Clark won its season opener 1-0 over Cheney (0-1, 0-1 GSL) in Cheney. LC’s Hannah Rothstrom and Cheney’s Amy Knox each kept clean sheets through regulation and two overtimes. … Lindsay Moles had a goal and a pair of assists to lead East Valley (1-0, 1-0) to a rout over Rogers (0-1, 0-1) at East Valley. … Patty Duncan had a goal and two assists and Aly Spear a goal and an assist as Ferris (1-0, 1-0) beat visiting North Central (0-1, 0-1) 3-0.

Marissa Poorboy had a goal and an assist as Gonzaga Prep (2-0, 1-0) outshot Clarkston 22-0 in a 5-0 rout at G-Prep. … Abby Goss had a goal and two assists and Tonya Schnibbe had a goal and an assist as University (1-0, 1-0) beat visiting Shadle Park (1-1, 0-1) 3-2. … Molly Nordstrom scored twice and had two assists as Central Valley (1-0, 1-0) routed West Valley (0-1, 0-1) 7-1 at West Valley.

Volleyball

Anna Walters had nine kills and Ashley McGee registered three aces as North Central (2-0 Greater Spokane League) swept Clarkston (0-2) 28-26, 25-17, 25-13 at Clarkston.
