Recipe contest, demos at fair

The Spokesman-Review

The results in four of the prize-money recipe contests are in from the Spokane Interstate Fair, but there is still time to catch the competition in one more.

Judging for the Hidden Valley Family Friendly Food Contest will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday. The fair runs through Sunday. A full schedule of each day’s events, including plenty of tasty demonstrations for foodies, can be found online at www.spokanecounty.org/fair.

The Oldies 101.1 radio station has teamed up with local restaurants to offer cooking demonstrations each day at the fair. The demos are held at the Oldies 101 booth in the home and arts building at 11 a.m., 4 and 7 p.m.

The restaurants include Longhorn Barbecue, Sawtooth Grill, Spencer’s Steaks and Chops, Steam Plant Grill, Hula Hut Grill, Black Angus, The Spokane House and Marcell’s Cakes and Desserts… and the samples are free.

Watch next week’s IN Food section for the blue-ribbon recipes in each of the prize-money contests.
