ANALYSIS

Things that make you go hmm – Seattle favored by a point over an NFC power that took down mighty Philadelphia on Monday night. Hmm, part II – It was a pick ‘em earlier in the week, before it was learned that Matt Hasselbeck has a sore throwing arm. OK, we’ll play along. The thinking must be that Atlanta is due for the inevitable letdown after a big win and that it had a short week of preparation followed by a long trip to the West Coast. Seattle, meanwhile, can’t possibly play as badly as it did last week in Jacksonville. The Seahawks didn’t get the full Michael Vick treatment in last year’s contest. Atlanta was locked into the second seed in the NFC playoffs, so Vick played only three series before departing with a 17-7 lead. Containing Vick remains more of an issue than dealing with Vick’s throwing arm. Despite his incredible foot speed, Vick was sacked 46 times last season and four times by Philly. Look for Hasselbeck, who took several punishing hits last week, and Shaun Alexander, who had little impact in the Jacksonville game, to rebound today.

Hmm, we’ll go with the Seahawks, 27-23.
