Chocolate lovers call Latah heaven

Here’s the best new excuse to have chocolate for breakfast: Latah Latte.

Latah Bistro owners are serving up tastes of some of the finest chocolate in the world with your morning (or afternoon, or evening) java. About a dozen of the most popular chocolates served in their restaurant are available at the latte drive-through window in “petites,” two-square bites of fine chocolate bars. They cost from 50 cents to $1.

“We’re so chocolate crazy here… we’ve sourced chocolate from all over the world to get the best chocolate at the best price,” says Dave DuPree, who owns the restaurant and latte stand with his wife, Heather.

Latah Bistro offers more than 50 kinds of fine chocolates on its dessert menu, and a sampler plate of chocolates is one of its most popular desserts. Chocolate bars are also sold at the restaurant.

Latah Latte also offers mochas made with gourmet chocolate blended by the Latah Bistro chefs. One offering is a Mayan Mocha, made from chocolates that include a touch of chipotle pepper.

“It’s not your typical Hershey’s pump sugar syrup… it’s real chocolate,” DuPree says.

Latah Latte and Latah Bistro are on South Cheney-Spokane Road off Highway 195 near the Qualchan Golf Course. You can call ahead so your latte is waiting at 838-5050.

The Bistro can be reached by calling 838-8338. The menu is online at www.latahbistro.com
