Wis.-River Falls runs past PLU

The University of Wisconsin at River Falls ran the ball on 64 of its 75 plays Saturday, amassing 506 yards on the ground, and went on to beat Pacific Lutheran in non-conference football play at River Falls, Wis.

Nathan Anderson had 24 carries for 205 yards and Jeremy Wolff had 17 carries for 168 yards to pace the Falcons (1-2) offense.

For Pacific Lutheran (0-2), Chris Maine completed 30 of 44 passes for 434 yards and one touchdown. Craig Chiado caught 11 passes for 218 yards and Jacob Washburn picked up 130 yards on eight catches, including a touchdown.

La Verne 38, Puget Sound 14: Brian Guerrero completed 28 of 43 passes for 384 yards and threw three second-quarter touchdown passes to three different receivers to lead the Leopards past the Loggers at La Verne, Calif.

The Leopards broke from an 8-7 deficit after one quarter on scoring throws from Guerrero of 20 yards to Justin Ankeney, 29 yards to Phillip Craig and 3 yards to Dustin Elliott and a field goal to take a 31-8 halftime lead.

Rory Lee ran for 104 yards on 25 carries to pace the Loggers (2-1).

Roger Logan caught six passes for 122 yards for La Verne (2-1).

John Lorge and Andrew Watkins scored touchdowns for Puget Sound.
