Hey, way to keep mum about the gender, Jennifer

The Spokesman-Review

IF YOU’RE PLANNING on buying Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner a gift for their upcoming little bundle of joy, you might want to go with pink. Asked by Jay Leno on Tuesday’s “Tonight Show” whether she was having a boy or a girl, Garner coyly replied: “We have one or the other, that’s for sure.”

But later, when talking about a recent appearance on a Hurricane Katrina telethon, she offered:

“I have never felt so pregnant in my life. You just start to feel like you’re the hugest person on the face of the planet. … I just felt bigger and bigger like she …”

As Garner gasped and put her hand over her mouth, Leno joked: “You meant to say ‘he.’ “

Garner’s pregnancy was written into her TV spy show “Alias,” which returns for a fifth season tonight.

“My stunt double has a bump,” she said, “and the other day I walked in, and my stunt double just looked a little different to me. … And she said, ‘Yeah, we went to a bigger bump.’ “

Speaking of little girls …

R. Kelly and his wife, Andrea, have separated after she was granted an emergency protective order earlier this month accusing him of physical abuse and stalking.

The R&B singer released a statement saying that he was trying to work things out after “a heated argument,” adding that even though both have retained lawyers, “it’s not a divorce proceeding.”

The couple married in 1996 and have three children. Kelly is still awaiting trial in a 2002 child pornography case stemming from a videotape allegedly showing him having sex with an underage girl.

Supremes to test Anna’s will

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear stripper-turned-TV-star Anna Nicole Smith‘s case concerning the $474 million fortune of her late husband, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II.

Smith married Marshall in 1994 when he was 89 and she was 26. A bankruptcy judge awarded the inheritance to Smith after his death the following year, but her stepson, E. Pierce Marshall, has been fighting for the money in various courts ever since. The most recent ruling declared him his father’s sole heir.

The Supreme Court will consider a technical issue: when may federal courts hear claims that involve state probate proceedings.

Just another married white female

Actress Jennifer Jason Leigh and director Noah Baumbach were wed over the Labor Day weekend, People magazine reported Tuesday. It is the first marriage for both.

Leigh, 43, has starred in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Single White Female” and “The Anniversary Party.” Baumbach’s latest film is the upcoming “The Squid and the Whale.”

Enrique es muy caliente

Latin crooner Enrique Iglesias tops People en Espanol magazine’s second annual “25 Sexiest Bachelors” list.

Iglesias, 30, has been linked to tennis star Anna Kournikova, frequently found on “sexiest” lists herself.

He was followed by singer Pablo Montero and actors Eduardo Yanez, Gabriel Soto and Wilmer Valderrama (“That ‘70s Show”).
