Blue Christmas service aims to be uplifting
The holidays can be a lonely time for many people.
For those looking to alleviate loss, grief or loneliness, Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., is offering a Blue Christmas service Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The service will include candlelight, healing worship and an understanding community.

Christmas concerts
•Dancers from area churches are presenting “Christmas, The Eternal Story in Dance” Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave.

•Mead United Methodist Church, 12611 N. Wilson St., Mead, is presenting a Community Christmas Sing-along Saturday at 7 p.m.
The event is open to people of all ages and faiths, and refreshments will be available.

•The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is presenting the “Service of Nine Lessons and Carols,” Sunday at 7 p.m.
The service, based on the medieval Christmas Eve Vigil Service, will include performances by the handbell choir, children’s choir and cathedral choir.
A free-will offering will be taken.

•The First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., is presenting a Christmas Organ Concert Sunday at 6 p.m.
The concert will feature the church’s 100-year-old Wurlitzer pipe organ played by Kenneth Fuller.
Audience members will have a chance to sing along with traditional Christmas carols, and after the program there will be hot tortilla soup and chips served at no charge.

•All Nations Warriors for Christ is presenting its fourth annual Christmas Program Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Spokane Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, 828 W. Spofford Ave.

Living Nativity
Green Bluff Community United Methodist Church, 9908 E. Green Bluff Road, Colbert, is presenting the Nativity on Saturday and Dec. 22 and 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The Nativity will be set up on the east side of the church and also will be staged after the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve family candlelight service.

•The German-American Society is offering its annual German Christmas Service on Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave.
The service will be in both German and English and will feature the Concordia Choir singing traditional German Christmas carols.
After the service there will be a reception at the Deutsches Haus, 25 W. Third Ave.
