Calendar honoring Idaho volunteers now on sale

The “Women Warriors and Unsung Heroes” 2007 calendar is on sale now.

The 12-month calendar features the stories and photos of the women volunteers for local Idaho nonprofit organizations.

Calendars are $12 each and all proceeds benefit Women’s Center Inc. in Coeur d’Alene.

Main distribution centers include the Albertsons in Hayden and Coeur d’Alene. For other distribution centers and information, contact Roxana Dunteman at (208) 664-1333.

Refuse To Be a Victim Benefit

On Wednesday, you can refuse to be a victim and benefit OASIS, a Post Falls Women’s Shelter.

From noon to 4 p.m. at Center Target Sports, 3295 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, owner Peggy Santos is offering a self-defense class. The class is for both men and women and is $15 per person. All proceeds will be donated to OASIS.

New Year’s Day Hangover Handicap

TESH Inc., a vocational rehabilitation organization that assists people who are disabled and/or disadvantaged, is holding a five-mile fun run in Coeur d’Alene on New Year’s Day.

The New Year’s Day Hangover Handicap begins at 9:30 a.m. Runners can register at 8:45. The cost is $20 with a shirt or $10 without a shirt.

The race will take place on the flat stretch of Lake Coeur d’Alene Drive, starting near the east end of Sherman Ave.

All proceeds will benefit TESH Inc. to help fund programs that provide services such as vocational training and skill building, independent living skills and residential support.
