Snake river raft accident victims identified

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

MOOSE, Wyo. – Three people killed in a rafting accident on the Snake River were identified Saturday as John Rizas, 63, and Elizabeth Rizas, 58, of Beaufort, S.C., and Linda Clark, 69, of Shreveport, La., according to Grand Teton National Park officials.

Ten others were rescued from the cold, swift water.

Park spokeswoman Joan Anzelmo said 13 people were on the raft when it capsized about a mile north of Moose in the southern part of the park. They included the boatman from Grand Teton Lodge Co., a park concessionaire.

Before Friday’s accident, only three people had drowned in the past 56 years on the Snake inside the park’s borders.
