Two arrested after SeaTac break-ins

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

SEATTLE – Two men have been arrested by Port of Seattle police following an unusually high number of vehicle break-ins in the parking garages at SeaTac.

The break-ins occurred during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Police patrolling the airport noticed a large number of vehicles, mostly Ford SUVs and pickups, showing signs of having been burglarized, airport spokesman Bob Parker said Wednesday.

Twenty-nine people reported vehicle break-ins during that weekend, Parker said.

The arrested men, 19 and 23, live in SeaTac.

Police searched a residence where one of the men lived and discovered more than 100 items, including several car stereos, which appeared to be stolen, Parker said.

The 19-year-old man was booked into the Regional Justice Center in Kent on drug charges.

The 23-year-old man was also booked into the center for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle.

A third man who was detained was released, Parker said.
