KEC Operation Round up names grant recipients

Kootenai Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up recently donated more than $8,000 to area organizations through second-quarter disbursements.

Groups that received funding are listed.

Bereaved Parents of the USA received $850 for information packets and printer/fax/copier/scanner.

The Boy Scouts Inland Northwest Council received $1,800 for picnic tables at their Lake Coeur d’Alene camp.

Quest Summer Day Camp was awarded $250 for scholarships for kids.

ICARE received $1,200 for a refurbished copy machine.

City of Athol will use a $2,500 grant to purchase fencing for the skate/city park.

Specialized Needs Recreation received $2,396 to upgrade their sound system.

Timberlake High School wrestling team was awarded a $900 grant to send low-income participants to a wrestling training camp.

Operation Round Up funding is available from the cooperative’s program which “rounds up” to the nearest dollar amount the total on a KEC member’s monthly bill.

The next round of grant applications are due by Aug. 14 and can be picked up at the KEC office at 2451 W. Dakota Ave., Hayden Lake, ID 83835 or online at www.kec.com. for information, call 765-1200.

Idaho Child Abuse Response and Education of Coeur d’Alene recently received a $500 StreetSentz Community Grant from RadioShack Corp.

The funds are awarded nationwide to various worthy programs that help families protect children from abduction, violence and abuse.

Grant recipients must be a tax-exempt, nonprofit designated as a 501 © by the Internal Revenue Service, offer programs that directly impact and benefit the community, and help prevent family violence/abuse and/or child abduction.
