Flea market will support mission trip

Lisa Leinbergerlisa Leinberger The Spokesman-Review

Chattaroy Community Church, 3711 E. Chattaroy Road, Chattaroy, is holding a flea market to raise funds for Dr. John Hershey and his wife, Vickie, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Hersheys have made 10 missionary trips to Papua, New Guinea, to volunteer at a hospital.

Conditions at the hospital are very poor. Newborns go without blankets, and patients receive only the food that their friends and relatives bring them.

The two will make their 11th trip to the hospital this year. To help them with their mission, Holy Family Hospital has donated medical supplies.

However, the shipping of these supplies costs about $6 a pound.

The church will use the funds of this flea market to help the Hersheys ship them. Their goal is to reach $1,000.

Anyone interested in renting a space at the sale can do so for $10 each, and the day will include food, crafts, rummage sale items and country music.

For more information, call Steve Combs at 238-3006.
