Courier’s senior tour starts today

NAPLES, Fla. – Jim Courier enjoyed playing in Europe’s version of senior tennis so much that he started his own tour in the United States.

The Champions Series begins today and has three other events scheduled this year. Competitors at Naples will include Courier, Michael Chang, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Pat Cash, Petr Korda, Mikael Pernfors and Aaron Krickstein.

Players with more experience in senior tennis, such as Wilander, are happy that Courier stepped forward.

“I think when you get a player involved that cares and loves to play, it brings up the level of the tournament and the commitment of the other players as well to make it successful,” Wilander said.
