Lake City upends Post Falls

Beck Roan had a two-run single in the fifth inning, and Brent Everson followed with another RBI single Monday as Lake City scored all its runs in one inning in a 3-2 Inland Empire League baseball win over host Post Falls (10-8, 7-8).

Brady Capaul gave up one run in six innings to pick up the win for the Timberwolves (14-6, 9-5).

Softball

Inland Empire League: Post Falls poured in 35 runs in a doubleheader sweep over visiting Sandpoint (2-16, 1-14). Lisa Steinbach struck out seven, walked one and allowed just one hit as Post Falls (17-3, 13-2) grabbed a 14-2 win in the early game. The top three hitters in the Trojans’ lineup – Jordan Schoening, Blake Meredith and Sean Topp – batted 10 for 13 and knocked in seven runs in a five-inning, 21-5 rout of the Bulldogs in the nightcap.

Greater Spokane League: Sam Skillingstad had another dominant performance for Shadle Park, pitching a five-inning no-hitter in the Highlanders 12-0 win over visiting Cheney (4-12). Skillingstad struck out 12 batters and gave up just one walk while hitting 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Robin Conrad also batted 2 for 3 and chipped in an RBI for the Highlanders (15-0).

Boys golf

Inland Empire Invitational: Eastmont of Wenatchee edged Central Valley by one stroke to take the team title at the 25-team tournament that included all GSL and Big Nine schools. University’s Hank Frame was the medalist with a 3-under-par 69 at the Spokane Country Club. Dustin Poe of Ferris was the only other competitor under par with a 70. Ferris, Mead and Gonzaga Prep rounded out the top five.
