Wisconsin upset by Missouri State

Blake Ahearn scored 25 points as Missouri State surprised No. 7 Wisconsin 66-64 in Friday’s semifinals of the South Padre Island Invitational in South Padre Island, Texas.

Missouri State (4-0) will play Oklahoma State in Sunday’s championship.

Wisconsin (4-1) was led by Alando Tucker’s 26 points.

The Bears led by as many as 19 in the first half, but had to come back after the Badgers went ahead 62-57 on a 3-point shot by Tucker with 5:25 remaining.

(1) Florida 101, Western Kentucky 68: At Las Vegas, Corey Brewer had 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead another impressively balanced attack in the Gators’ (6-0) victory over the Hilltoppers (4-1).

Florida’s Taurean Green added 19 points.

(2) North Carolina 101, (22) Tennessee 87: At New York, Tyler Hansbrough bounced back from one of the worst games of his college career against Gonzaga to score 27 points and lead the Tar Heels (4-1) to a victory over the Volunteers (4-2) in the third-place game of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Freshman forward Brandan Wright had 19 points on 9-for-10 shooting for the Tar Heels.

(3) Pittsburgh 88, Florida State 66: At Pittsburgh, the Panthers went on a pivotal 13-0 run behind the outside shooting of Ronald Ramon and Antonio Graves not long after Florida State star Al Thornton got into foul trouble in the first half, and Pittsburgh (6-0) defeated the previously unbeaten Seminoles (4-1).

Graves scored 15 points and Ramon put up 12, all on 3-pointers.

(4) Ohio St. 91, Youngstown St. 57: At Columbus, Ohio, freshmen Daequan Cook and Mike Conley Jr. and backup center Matt Terwilliger led a first-half onslaught to power the Buckeyes (6-0) past the Penguins (2-4).

Terwilliger, a junior forward, scored 10 points in the first half to surpass his career high by a point.

(10) Kansas 64, Ball St. 46: At Las Vegas, Mario Chalmers hit three key 3-pointers and scored 13 points, and Kansas overcame awful first-half shooting in a victory over the Cardinals (2-2) in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Brandon Rush had 11 points for the Jayhawks (4-1),

(25) Maryland 81, High Point 63: At College Park, Md., Ekene Ibekwe scored 16 points, James Gist and D.J. Strawberry each had 15, and the Terrapins (7-0) pulled away in the second half to beat the Panthers (3-3).

Freshman Greivis Vasquez added 11 points for the Terrapins.
