Community Update: Family Day will benefit area cancer services

The Festival of Trees Family Day at the Coeur d’Alene Resort is today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Children and their families can participate in face painting and special Christmas crafts and enjoy caroling by area schools.

Tickets are $2 at the door. Proceeds benefit cancer services in North Idaho and Eastern Washington.

Christmas Tree Elegance holiday music, dance

Christmas Tree Elegance continues tonight with “An Evening with Eckart and Friends.”

The German coffeehouse holiday music will be performed in the Isabella Ballroom at the Davenport Hotel from 6 to 7 p.m.

“Dancin’ at the Dav” will be in the Marie Antoinette Room on Wednesday from 7 to 10 p.m.

Tickets for both events are $10 and available at the door. All proceeds benefit the Spokane Symphony Orchestra.

Camps For Kids

Beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the eighth annual Camps for Kids breakfast will be at The Spokane Club, 1002 W. Riverside Ave.

Basketballs signed by the Gonzaga women’s and men’s basketball teams will be raffled off along with a variety of gift certificates.

Tickets are $25 per person, and reservations are required. Money raised from the event will go toward scholarships, allowing children of limited resources to attend area camps.

Meals on Wheels Holiday Ball

On Friday, at CenterPlace at Mirabeau, 2426 N. Discovery Road, Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels is holding its first Holiday Ball and Gift Auction.

From 6 to 11 p.m., attendees will enjoy a tantalizing dinner catered by A Catered Affair, a live and silent auction, and dancing to the music of Men in the Making.

Tickets are $75 per person, and proceeds will benefit the Spokane Valley Senior Center Senior Lunch Program.

Rotary Club Breakfast with Santa

The Spokane Valley Rotary Club will hold its ninth annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday.

Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., along with face painters, clowns, and games, at Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Road. Santa will arrive on a Spokane Valley firetruck at 9 a.m.

Tickets are $3.50 and will be available at the door. Proceeds will benefit Spokane Valley community scholarships, the Centennial Trail, the Mirabeau Community Center and other Rotary service projects.

Red Hat Food Drive

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Ritzy Rollicking Red Hatters will hold a food drive for the YWCA Domestic Violence Safe Shelter. The Drive will be at Rosauers, 907 W. 14th Ave.

All food collected will be donated to the shelter.
