Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Colt Brennan threw for five touchdowns and 330 yards and Hawaii never had to punt in a 49-30 win Saturday night over New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.

Brennan, who came into the game second in the country in total offense behind New Mexico State’s Chase Holbrook, picked apart the porous Aggies defense. He completed 22 of 31 passes with no interceptions.

Brennan completed his first nine passes, including a 34-yard TD pass to wide receiver Ross Dickerson that gave the Warriors a 14-0 lead with 2:09 left in the first quarter. Dickerson also caught a 36-yard scoring pass. Brennan’s other touchdown passes were to Davone Bess for 16 yards, 9 yards to Ian Sample and 13 yards to Jason Rivers.

Nevada 23, San Jose State 7: At Reno, Nev., Robert Hubbard rushed for 161 yards on 33 carries and scored a touchdown to lead the Wolf Pack to a win over the Spartans.

Nevada quarterback Travis Moore, who started in place of the injured Jeff Rowe, threw for 178 yards and a touchdown, completing 20 of 28, and rushed for another touchdown against one interception.

The Wolf Pack rolled up 408 yards of total offense compared with the Spartans’ 239 yards. But two Nevada first-half turnovers in San Jose State territory kept the Spartans close.

Louisiana Tech 48, Utah State 35: At Ruston, La., the Bulldogs rushed for a season-high 344 yards in the win over the Aggies.

The Bulldogs bounced back after a disappointing loss last week to Idaho and dominated against the Aggies. The Bulldogs tallied a season-high 570 yards of offense to Utah State’s 373.

Freshman running back Daniel Porter, making his first career start, ran for a career-high 178 yards on 24 carries and scored his second career touchdown – a 5-yarder for Tech’s final score of the night. Running back Patrick Jackson added 91 yards and one score on seven carries and true freshman William Griffin had 37 yards on nine carries.

Zac Champion of the Bulldogs threw four TD passes.
