Open house on Appleway project

The city of Spokane Valley will host an open house for those who want to learn more about a road project on Appleway scheduled for next year.

The crumbling roadway will be replaced from Tschirley Road to Hodges Road with five new lanes plus curbs and sidewalks. The work will cost $3.2 million.

Residents can get more information and talk with people involved in the project from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Elementary School, 17915 E. Fourth Ave.

Committee members sought

A regional committee is seeking a Spokane Valley resident to help make recommendations to the County Commission about the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership programs.

Also, the terms of three members of the Spokane Valley Planning Commission are about to expire, and the city is accepting applications for those positions. Commission members are nominated by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

All three incumbents are seeking reappointment. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
