Sample some chili to benefit Children’s Village

Stop by Coeur d’Alene Honda, 2745 W. Seltice Way, today for the 10th annual Chili Cook-Off to benefit the Children’s Village.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can sample chili from competing chefs for $2 per ticket, or six for $10. All proceeds will benefit the children living at the Children’s Village in Coeur d’Alene.

Tickets will be entered into a drawing for a 2006 “Blue Ice” Metropolitan Scooter.

Cold Stone Make-A-Wish

On Thursday, enjoy free ice cream and donate to a worthy cause.

Visit any of the Spokane Cold Stone Creameries – 3011 E. 29th Ave., , 9502 N. Newport Highway or 10103 N. Division St., Suite 106 – between 5 and 8 p.m. to get a free serving of Cole’s Creation and donate to Make-A-Wish-Foundation.

Cole is Make-A-Wish’s featured wish child for 2006. His Cole’s Creation is a combination of chocolate ice cream with yellow cake, chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles.

Meals on Wheels auction

Northern Quest Casino, 100 N. Hayford Road in Airway Heights, is hosting an auction and dinner Friday to benefit senior citizens.

Meals On Wheels and the Mid-City Senior Center are hosting a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., a sit-down dinner at 7 and a live auction from 7:30 to 8:30.

Wishing Star Dishes

On Saturday evening, join Wishing Star Foundation at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive, for the Dishes for Wishes Benefit Dinner.

One-of-a-kind dishes painted by “wish kids” at Color Me Mine in River Park Square will be on display and auctioned off in silent and live auctions.

Cocktails will be served in the Skyline Ballroom starting at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30. Afterward, two “wish kids” will share their stories.

Special Olympics benefit

Head into any of the area Red Robin locations – 725 W. Main Ave., 9904 N. Newport Highway or 14736 E. Indiana Ave. – on Saturday and have lunch (noon to 4 p.m.) or dinner (4 to 8 p.m.) served to you by local law enforcement personnel.

Area cops will trade in their badges for aprons and deliver fries, burgers and drinks with a smile, collecting tips to benefit Special Olympics in Washington.

Behan benefit sale

Visit the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday for Just Between Friends’ Fall Consignment Event to benefit the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.

Just Between Friends will be collecting diapers, children’s cold medicines and formula for the nursery. Cash donations also are appreciated.

There is a $2 entry fee on Saturday, but free admission will be offered in exchange for donations. Admission Sunday is free.

Boy Scouts Popcorn Blitz

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, Boy Scouts of America Troop 965 in Kettle Falls, Wash., will be going door-to-door, selling kettle corn, caramel corn and cheese popcorn to raise money for camping equipment.

LC boosters golf tourney

Support Lewis and Clark High School and register for the Lewis and Clark Booster Club Golf Tournament.

The Oct. 7 tournament at Indian Canyon Golf Course, 4304 W. West Drive, will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Check-in is at 12:30.

Cost is $80, which includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, barbecue, tee prizes and gifts for the winning teams.
