In brief: Proposed plat focus of hearing

Spokane’s hearing examiner will take public testimony next Thursday on an application for a preliminary plat in the 2100 block of West Cascade Way, to create 16 single-family residential lots on seven acres.

The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the council briefing center on the lower level of City Hall. Rod V. Plese is seeking the preliminary plat on behalf of the Five Mile Heights LLC.

Northwest area

Cleanup, meeting planned

A cleanup and brief organizational meeting are planned for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the community garden located off Northwest Boulevard near the corner of North Hemlock Street and West Fairview Avenue.

New gardeners welcome. Meet at the garden near the Transitional Living Center Building at 3128 N. Hemlock. This is a free event open to the public.

Post Falls

Motorbike event cancer benefit

Area motorcycle clubs will hold a scenic ride and poker run Saturday to benefit the Colon Cancer Foundation and a local rider who is fighting the disease.

Registration begins a 9:30 a.m. at the Slab Inn at 800 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls. Breakfast will be available there before the ride, which starts at 10:30 a.m.

Registration is $10. To RSVP or to donate items for the raffle, contact Dustin Thurman at 599-0226 or firebuck7@msn.com.

The route passes by several area lakes and concludes with a raffle drawing, poker prizes and taco bar at the Pit Stop in Post Falls.

After dinner, riders will meet at Big Al’s, 6361 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls, where proceeds from the bull ride also will benefit the cause.
