The Spokesman-Review

A 20-year-old Roy, Wash., man died over the weekend when he was thrown from his all-terrain vehicle, Idaho State Police said Sunday.

Brandon L. Scudder was injured about 7:10 p.m. Friday while 4-wheeling on the access road that runs parallel to North Wythywindl Lane in Athol.

Police said Scudder was riding side by side with an acquaintance and sped up to pass. In doing so, he became tangled in some wire fencing that was down and was ejected from his ATV. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

He was taken to Kootenai Medical Center where he died Saturday, police said.

I-90 lanes briefly closed after crash

Washington State Patrol troopers closed both westbound lanes of Interstate 90 Sunday night to allow a helicopter to land and transport an injured motorcyclist.

WSP dispatcher Dana Kennedy said late Sunday that troopers were continuing to investigate the crash, which occurred about 8:15 p.m. a mile west of the Idaho border in Washington.

“All we know is the motorcyclist has been airlifted, and the freeway is open,” Kennedy said. “It was closed for about 15 minutes.”

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, but he had no further details.
