People: A few more stabs at Spears
Another day, another bizarre bit of Britney behavior.
The cover of the September issue of Allure magazine features Britney Spears posed provocatively in jeans and a dark brown wig, her bare breasts covered by her arms.
Spears showed up “on time and ready to work,” editor-in-chief Linda Wells says, adding: “She was entirely unself-conscious: She took off her wig and then stripped down to the waist, for no apparent reason, before sitting for hair and makeup.”
But when it came to the interview she had also agreed to, it was a different matter.
Spears missed four appointments, at one point claiming she was “delayed by important work in the recording studio,” according to Allure writer Judith Newman – although “the paparazzi found her a few hours later at a salon, getting her nails done.”
So Newman instead wrote a first-person essay about her experience.
“Britney has long lost her role-model status,” says Wells. “That dream of a comeback seems to occupy an ever-more-distant speck on the horizon.”
Courtney’s Hole-istic approach
A slimmed-down Courtney Love appears on the September cover of Harper’s Bazaar magazine wearing only shoes, a hat and some strategically placed jewelry.
The 43-year-old singer says she’s dropped some 40 pounds thanks to frequent “colonics and fasting,” and a daily diet of two meal-replacement shakes, fish and macrobiotic food.
“By the way,” she adds, “I hate reading magazines where the actresses are saying, ‘Broccoli and fish, broccoli and fish.’ You liars. You bulimic liars.”
Didn’t she just get out of one?
Clad in a gold sequin minidress, Paris Hilton unveiled her new clothing line this week.
“It’s just Paris style: fun, bright and flashy,” she said of the collection, which includes shoes, T-shirts and jeans.
As for the pending sale of her Hollywood Hills home, Hilton added: “I’m going to miss my house because I love it. … But too many people know where I live, and I’d rather be in a gated community.”
Speaking of taken into custody …
Lindsay Lohan‘s parents settled their long-simmering divorce and custody dispute Friday, with the judge praising their “extraordinarily good judgment.”
Terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed. Dina Lohan has custody of the couple’s two minor children, Aliana, 13, and Dakota, 10.
Neither Lindsay, 21, nor her brother Michael, 19, were involved in the divorce proceedings since they are no longer minors.
