Permit sought for water treatment

The Spokesman-Review

The North Kootenai Water and Sewer District is asking for a permit to operate a wastewater treatment system for Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club near Arrow Point.

The public has until March 16 to provide comments to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.

The system would consist of a treatment plant, irrigation storage lagoon and irrigation system supplied by water from Lake Coeur d’Alene and treated effluent for the private, luxury golf course, according to a DEQ press release.

As part of the application, the district must show how it will address health and environmental concerns.

Copies of the draft permit are available at DEQ’s state and regional Coeur d’Alene offices or on the Web at www.deq.idaho.gov/public /comment.cfm.

For more information, call Gary Gaffney at the Coeur d’Alene office at (208) 769-1422 or e-mail gary.gaffney@deq.idaho.gov.

Send written comments to the DEQ Coeur d’Alene Regional Office, 2110 Ironwood Parkway, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.

Woman says man tried to abduct her

An attempted kidnapping was reported Sunday in the parking lot of a Post Falls grocery store, and police are asking the community for help identifying the would-be kidnapper.

An 18-year-old woman told police she was in the parking lot of the Boundary Trading Co. store at 1501 E. Seltice Way about 1:15 p.m. when a man grabbed her and tried to get her into his vehicle. She told police she broke free and fled in her vehicle.

The woman was not injured, the Post Falls Police Department said.

The attacker was described as 45 to 47 years old, between 6 foot and 6-foot-4, with gray hair and a salt-and-pepper beard. The woman said he was driving an older, possibly 1976, white Chevy pickup with a Kootenai County license plate.

She told police a boy about 3 years old with blond hair and blue eyes was in the man’s truck. The child was reportedly wearing a red sweatsuit.

Anyone with information on the attempted abduction is asked to call Post Falls police at (208) 773-3517.
