Storm rout Liberty behind Castro Marques

Iziane Castro Marques scored 24 points and Lauren Jackson had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Seattle Storm to an 84-53 victory over the New York Liberty on Sunday night in Seattle.

Betty Lennox had nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Storm, who have won three of their past four. Seattle is 6-2 at home.

Castro Marques shot 9 for 12 from the field and made four 3-pointers. She scored seven in the third quarter to help the Storm lead by 31 points.

Loree Moore scored 10 to lead the Liberty, who have lost four of five and endured their most lopsided loss of the season.

Sky 74, Sparks 71 (OT): At Los Angeles, Candice Dupree made a shot to force overtime and finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Chicago to an overtime win over the Sparks.

Jia Perkins added 15 points, Chasity Melvin scored 12 points and Armintie Price had 10 rebounds, nine points, six assists and five steals for the Sky.

Silver Stars 71, Shock 68: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Erin Buescher had a season-high 23 points and Vickie Johnson made a crucial 3-pointer in San Antonio’s victory over Detroit.

San Antonio never trailed after Johnson’s 3 with 1:15 left in the game. She finished with 12 points as the Silver Stars snapped a two-game losing streak.

Fever 69, Mystics 62: At Washington, Tamika Catchings and Tan White had 14 points apiece to lead Indiana to a victory that ended the Mystics’ three-game winning streak.

Tamika Whitmore added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals for Indiana.

Monarchs 76, Lynx 68: At Sacramento, Calif., Rebekkah Brunson recorded her sixth double-double of the season as the Monarchs held on to first place in the Western Conference with a win over Minnesota.

Seimone Augustus, the second-leading scorer in the league, had 22 points for Minnesota.
