In brief: Burning restricted for dry conditions

The Spokesman-Review

Severe restrictions on burning are in effect throughout Kootenai County.

The county’s Fire and Rescue Department said hot weather and dry fuels are particularly vulnerable to sparks of all sizes.

Instituted July 6, the requirements state that:

“No opening burning of any kind, including yard waste, is allowed.

“Campfires for cooking could be restricted in certain areas. If not, they should be small and extinguished so they’re cold to the touch before left untended.

“Those outside the county can contact the Idaho Department of Lands at 769-1577 with questions; county residents may call the Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Department at 676-8739.
