Secret Witness is offering a reward for information that results in the arrest of a man wanted for a 2004 assault.

James D. McMurtrey, 18, is wanted for second-degree assault with substantial bodily harm, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan. The assault “was so vicious it left shoe prints on the victim’s head.”

In addition to being a fugitive, McMurtrey also is a level 3 sex offender and a confirmed gang member, Reagan said.

McMurtrey is described as white, 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, Reagan said.

Anyone with information regarding McMurtrey’s whereabouts should call (509) 327-5111. Tipsters do not have to give their name to collect the reward but should leave a code name or number.

Secret Witness is an organization that pays cash rewards for information that solves Spokane-area crimes.

It is not affiliated with law enforcement.
