Wesleyan Church plans VBS

It’s coming up on August, but there are still a few vacation Bible school sessions coming up. The Spokane Valley Wesleyan Church will host a session Aug. 6 through 10 at the church, 16607 E. Broadway. Children ages 4 to 11 will gather from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day. The theme of the event is “Sonforce Kids.”

Call the church at 891-9335 for more information or call 448-5184.

Church picnic

Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene will host an “old-fashioned” church picnic Sunday in Mirabeau Point Park. In addition to a festive potluck meal there will be live music, a waterslide, games, softball and competitions. There will also be a pie contest and a chili-cook off. The church will provide fried chicken for $1 per person or $4 per family. Those attending with last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a dessert to share, and those with names beginning with N-Z are asked to bring a salad.

The event will be held after the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Gospel concert

Foothills Community Church will host the Southern Gospel quartet Sweet Presence in concert on Sunday. The group will perform during the 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services at the church, at 11102 N. Forker Road. A potluck lunch will follow at 12:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.
