Achievements: Christina Jow Lemoine earns M.D.

Christina Jow Lemoine of Spokane has graduated with an M.D. from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. She is the daughter of Allen and Chong Jow of Spokane. Lemoine planned to begin her residency in anesthesiology at University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle.

Area residents earn degrees

Mica Hutchison of Post Falls graduated from Purdue University in West LaFayette, Ind., with a doctorate in engineering education. She graduated from Post Falls High School in 1998 and is the daughter of Gary and JoAnn Hutchison of Post Falls.

Holly Amend of Spokane graduated from Gordon College in Boston on May 19 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Amend is the daughter of Robin and Debbie Amend of Spokane.

Anna Schara of Spokane graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. She graduated with a bachelor of Art in English.

Brandon Vasquez of Medical Lake recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in media production and new technology from Northern Michigan University in Marquette. He is the son of Joseph and Brenda Vasquez of Medical Lake.

Nathaniel Newcomb of Spokane received an Associate of Arts degree from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Jill Burgard of Spokane graduated from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., with a Bachelor of Arts in dietetics. She is the daughter of Daniel and Karen Burgard of Spokane.

“Karla Kotar of Spokane graduated from Utica College in Utica, N.Y., with a Master of Business Administration, Economic Crime and Fraud Management.

Stephanie Smith of Coeur d’Alene recently graduated from the College of Sante Fe, N.M., with a Bachelor of Art in studio art and psychology. She is a graduate of Lake City High School and the daughter of Stan Smith and Colleen Kincaid-Smith.

Blair Alderman of Spokane graduated from Dana College in Blair, Neb., with a Bachelor of Art in history. He is the son of Mitch and Jane Alderman of Spokane.

Charles Scoma of Post Falls received a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J.

Awards and scholarships

“Drew Olsen of Spokane recently was recognized for his academic achievement at St. Olaf College Honors Day in Northfield, Minn. Olsen is a senior at St. Olaf.

Sylvan Long of Spokane has been awarded a Downing Scholarship that will allow him a one-year exchange to Downing College at the University of Cambridge in England. Long is a 2003 graduate of St. George’s School.

David King of Spokane was awarded the Proven Scholar scholarship from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He is the son of David and Marcie King.
