Post Falls voters to decide on $2.97 million school levy

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

Voters in the Post Falls School District will decide May 15 whether to give the district $2.97 million over two years to help pay for textbooks and general program operations.

District trustees approved the amount at a special meeting Monday evening. It is $1.22 million more than the current levy. But the tax rate will remain $2.23 per $1,000 in property value because there are so many new homes to share the burden, and because of changes in the state tax system.

The district joins six other North Idaho districts planning levies this spring. The Coeur d’Alene School Board will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. today to consider amending the $17.6 million, two-year levy up for a vote May 15. District spokeswoman Janet Feiler said the board may include a second amount on the ballot, giving voters a choice between two. The meeting is at the Midtown Meeting Center, 1505 N. Fifth St., Coeur d’Alene.
