City work will close part of Washington St.

Washington Street will be closed to through traffic from Buckeye Avenue to Indiana Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday through the end of the month. The city of Spokane Water Department will be upgrading services as part of the Washington Street rehabilitation project set to begin this spring.

Local access will be maintained. Message boards and cones will direct traffic to alternate routes along Howard or Ruby streets. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and to anticipate delays.

Division Street from North River Drive to Boone Avenue will have obstructions, and the east curb lane will be closed at each intersection through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boone Avenue from Ruby to Astor streets also will have the same obstructions and closure.

Qwest Communications will be doing utility work.

Trafffic on Main Avenue from Post to Wall streets will be reduced by one lane on the south side of the street through March 30. A crane will replace the awning on the Crescent Court building.

Traffic is reduced by one lane in front of the Fox Theater on First Avenue between Madison and Monroe streets.

Obstructions

The city Street Department is sweeping, grading dirt streets and filling potholes. If there is a pothole in your neighborhood or on your daily route, you can report it by calling the pothole hotline at 625-7733.

Water work

City water crews have scheduled the following work for the coming week. Street obstructions are possible.

Water service repairs: 1704, 1707, 1708, 1714 and 1715 E. Liberty Ave.

Hydrant valve replacement: 4220 W. Custer Ave.

Valve replacement: Freya Street and Rich Avenue, Crestline Street and Cleveland Avenue, Southeast Boulevard and 14th Avenue, Southeast Boulevard and 13th Avenue, and Southeast Boulevard and Garfield Street.
