Indians 15, Twins 7: At Cleveland, Paul Byrd won for the first time in three starts in May and the Indians had two six-run innings in accumulating season highs in hits and runs in a victory over Minnesota. Jhonny Peralta homered and had four RBIs for Cleveland, which had 17 hits and improved baseball’s best home record to 12-3.
Tigers 7, Red Sox 2: At Boston, Justin Verlander scattered six hits over 7 2/3 innings, and Brandon Inge and Magglio Ordonez homered to cool off Tim Wakefield and lead Detroit to a victory over the Red Sox.
Blue Jays 2, Orioles 1: At Toronto, Jesse Litsch pitched into the ninth inning in his major league debut to help the Blue Jays beat Baltimore.
Devil Rays 4, Rangers 3 (10): At Kissimmee, Fla., Brendan Harris’ bases-loaded single in the 10th inning – his fourth hit of the game – drove in the winning run as Tampa Bay edged Texas in the Devil Rays’ debut at Disney World. Despite slow advance ticket sales, most of the seats in the minor league park at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex were filled. Attendance was announced as 8,443.
Athletics 5, Royals 4 (11): At Oakland, Calif., Dan Johnson’s one-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning drove in Shannon Stewart and lifted Oakland to a victory over Kansas City.
Yankees vs. White Sox, ppd.: At Chicago, the game between New York and Chicago was postponed by rain and will be made up today as part of a day-night doubleheader.
