Relatives suspected of identity theft

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

An 83-year-old man wanted help from his family but instead he’s out $50,000, police said Tuesday.

Spokane police detectives have issued an arrest warrant for the man’s daughter-in-law, Dianne “Maggie” Frazer, said spokeswoman Officer Jennifer DeRuwe. Frazer faces charges of first-degree identity theft, forgery and theft.

A few months ago, the man allowed his son, daughter-in-law and their children to move in with him in hopes they would assist with his care, DeRuwe said.

Frazer was given access to the victim’s accounts to pay bills.

When the man realized a large portion of his money had been used to make online purchases, he called Adult Protective Services for help, DeRuwe said. Police served a search warrant Tuesday afternoon at the man’s house, 2028 E. Eighth Ave.

Frazer was not found, DeRuwe said.
