‘Pacman’ Jones gets plea deal in Las Vegas

A judge in Las Vegas accepted a plea deal Thursday reducing felony charges against suspended NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones to a gross misdemeanor that will get him probation in return for his testimony about a strip club triple shooting.

•Miami Dolphins coach Cam Cameron decided to welcome back running back Rickey Williams, and he’ll be on the field starting with Monday’s workout. His first game in nearly two years could come a week later, Nov. 26 at Pittsburgh. Cameron said his players favored Williams’ return from a 1 1/2 -year suspension, and the 2002 NFL rushing champion embraced yet another fresh start.

Two share lead

Co-leaders Christina Kim and Mi Hyun Kim turned in bogey-free rounds of 5-under-par 67 on a breezy day at Trump International, one shot ahead of Juli Inkster and Paula Creamer at the ADT Championship at West Palm Beach, Fla.

•Kevin Sutherland shot a 10-under 62 to take a four-stroke lead over Rocco Mediate and Joel Kribel after the first round of the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach (Calif.) Invitational.

The event features players from the PGA, LPGA, Champions and Nationwide tours as well as minitour players and amateur foursomes.

Ferrer assists Nadal

Two days after beating good friend Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer gave him a gift: a spot in the Masters Cup semifinals at Shanghai, China.

Ferrer, a Spaniard ranked No. 6, overwhelmed No. 8 Richard Gasquet 6-1, 6-1 to win the Gold Group and clinch a semifinal berth. Gasquet was eliminated from the season-ending tournament, and the result allowed No. 2 Nadal to advance as well. Earlier, Nadal defeated No. 3 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4.

Andy Roddick, who has clinched the Red Group, faces top-ranked Roger Federer today. Also in that group, No. 4 Nikolay Davydenko plays No. 7 Fernando Gonzalez.

Jones moves to Yates

Longtime Roush Fenway Racing general manager Max Jones has moved to Yates Racing as a co-owner and general manager, with veteran crew chief Robbie Reiser stepping into his former job.

•At Xenia, Ohio, former Indianapolis 500 driver David D. “Salt” Walther was sentenced to three years in prison for leading police on a chase at speeds of up 100 mph.

M’s prospect aches

Jeff Clement, a minor league catching prospect who displayed his powerful swing during September for the Seattle Mariners, has a sore left elbow and may need surgery.

•D.C. United forward Luciano Emilio was honored as Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player, capping a season in which he became the first 20-goal scorer in five years.

•The United States qualified for the Beijing Olympics with a win over Japan at the volleyball Women’s World Cup at Nagoya, Japan.
