Women: Corigliano guides Whitworth past Great Falls

Tiffany Corigliano had career-highs of 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists as the Whitworth women’s basketball team defeated Great Falls 85-61 in a non-conference game Saturday at the Whitworth Fieldhouse in Spokane.

Corigliano (Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls) led a group of four Pirates who reached double figures in scoring. Natalie Orrell had 15 points, Courtney Gaddis had 14 off the bench and Teresa Zeitler (Medical Lake) added 10.

Whitworth improved to 2-2 on the season while Great Falls fell to 5-5.

“Tierney Jenkins scored 21 points and Alabama used a big second half to defeat Washington State 66-37 in the second round of the Junkanoo Jam at St. George’s Gym in Freeport, Bahamas.

After leading by two at halftime, the Crimson Tide outscored the Cougars 48-21 in the second half to put away the game.

Kezia Kelly and Colleen Betteridge each scored seven points for WSU, which fell to 1-4 on the season. Alabama improved to 1-4.

“Eastern Washington fell 74-50 to Marist on the final day of the Oahu Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Eagles fell behind 21-6 to start the game and could not recover.

EWU dropped to 1-4 on the season while the Red Foxes improved to 6-1.

“Cassie Pilkinton had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Ula Tauala added 11 points and six boards as North Idaho topped Williston State 64-45 at the Pepsi Cardinal Classic in Coeur d’Alene.

“Andrian Washington had 19 points and Josie Stewart added 14 points and eight rebounds as Casper topped CC Spokane 73-64 at the Pepsi Cardinal Classic in Coeur d’Alene.

Kelsey Stillar had 19 points and Liz Beardslee added 17 to lead the Sasquatch.

CCS fell to 2-3.
