Diamondbacks 8, Rockies 1: At Denver, Micah Owings struck out nine and allowed one run and two hits over 6 2/3 innings to lead Arizona past Colorado.

Brewers 13, Giants 4: At Milwaukee, Bill Hall homered twice and had a career-high six RBIs, leading the Brewers to a rout of San Francisco.

Astros 4, Cubs 3: At Chicago, Miguel Tejada tripled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and J.R. Towles homered to lead Houston over the Cubs.

Marlins 5, Pirates 4: At Miami, Mike Jacobs homered off reliever Franquelis Osoria leading off the ninth to give Florida a win over Pittsburgh.

Cardinals 5, Nationals 4: At St. Louis, Braden Looper gave the Cardinals rotation its fourth straight stingy outing as St. Louis registered a victory over Washington.

Phillies 8, Reds 4: At Cincinnati, Chase Utley hit a two-run homer off Josh Fogg and added a solo shot off Jeremy Affeldt to lead Philadelphia past the Reds.

Dodgers 7, Padres 1: At San Diego, Hiroki Kuroda was brilliant in his big league debut, allowing three hits in seven innings as Los Angeles beat the Padres.

Mets vs. Braves, ppd.: At Atlanta, rain and the threat of severe storms caused the New York-Atlanta game to be postponed. It was rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader May 20.
