Shock hold on to triumph
FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked Spokane Shock remained unbeaten with a 42-40 arenafootball2 victory over division rival Central Valley on Saturday night at Selland Arena.
Spokane improved to 4-0 overall, 3-0 within the West Division. The Shock are 3-0 on the road. No. 10 Central Valley, 0-5 vs. Spokane all time, dropped to 2-2.
Spokane led 28-7 at half. The Shock spotted the Coyotes the first seven points before rattling off 28 of their own, fueled by four straight defensive stops.
Jason Murrietta had four of his five touchdown passes in the first half. Raul Vijil had three TD receptions and also returned a kick for another score.
Receiver Andy Olson, who had a touchdown grab in the first half, was sidelined with an undisclosed injury in the second half after a collision with the dasherboards.
Spokane led 35-14 in the third quarter, but the Coyotes rallied within 42-40.
