Prugh finishes in tie for third

Alex Prugh tied with Skip Kendall for third place after Sunday’s final round of the Nationwide Cox Classic golf tournament at Champions Run in Omaha, Neb.

Prugh, a Ferris High School graduate who golfed at the University of Washington, won $36,400 after shooting a 4-under par 67 in the final round. Prugh’s four-day total was 268.

Ryan Hietala won the tournament on the first hole of a playoff, beating David Branshaw, after both finished with a four-round total of 265.

Men’s basketball

Washington State University’s Nikola Koprivica came off the bench and scored nine points, but Serbia was unable to keep up with France, falling 83-69 in the final game of Group D play at the 2008 U20 Men’s European Basketball Championship in Riga, Latvia.

Serbia finished 2-1 in group play and advances to Group F. Serbia plays Spain on Tuesday.

Baseball

Tyler Heil hit a solo home run in the 10th inning and the Moses Lake Pirates held on for a 5-4 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Spokane RiverHawks at Avista Stadium.

Tyson VanWinkle was 2 for 4 at the plate for Spokane (17-20) with a double, RBI and run scored. Moses Lake improved to 12-25.
