Spokane scores win over Tri-City

Indians extend lead in East

KENNEWICK – The Spokane Indians scored three runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings en route to a 10-5 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils (22-24) on Sunday night in the three-game series opener.

The Indians improved their Northwest League-best record to 34-12 (18-4 on the road). Boise (29-17) remains five games back of Spokane in the East Division after a 13-5 victory over Yakima (16-30).

Spokane’s Jason Ogata smacked a line drive to left field that drove in two runs and David Paisano hit an RBI double as the Indians added three insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Eric Fry was 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored and Jared Bolden hit 2 for 5 with a double and a run scored.

Thomas Field hit his second home run of the season for Tri-City to give the Dust Devils a 4-0 lead after three innings.

Spokane added one run in the ninth when Edward Kocel hit a 2-RBI double to left field.

The three-game series continues tonight in Kennewick and wraps up on Tuesday night.

The Indians open a five-game series with Vancouver at Avista Stadium beginning Wednesday.
