July, year-to-date Spokane County home sales off

After a couple months of small increases in Spokane County home sales this spring, July sales dipped slightly, according to Spokane Association of Realtors data released today.

The Spokane MLS recorded 586 sales last month countywide, compared to 592 in June and 721 in July last year.

The pace of homes coming on the market declined, with 3,456 for sale Monday, compared to 3,422 at this time last month and 3,111 in July 2007.

The average price of $221,658 remained nearly unchanged from June, and was about $5,000 more than at the same time a year ago. The median price was $190,385, a 1 percent decline from last year.

For the year, the number and total value of sales remain off by nearly a third. This year, 2,980 homes have sold, compared to 4,174 at this time last year. Sales totaled $623.1 million this year, compared to $882.3 last year.
