Police say man lit fire during fight

MEDFORD, Ore. – A Jackson County man is being held on bail of more than $1 million after he allegedly tried to burn his house down with his girlfriend, her mother and two children inside.

Authorities say 41-year-old Jackie Stallsworth is charged with arson, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and endangering another.

Police said he had been drinking at the time of the Christmas Day fire.

Officers said he reportedly was fighting with his girlfriend when he set fire to some loose paper in the living room. She stomped the flames out.

They said Stallsworth tried to punch and kick three officers.

Court records show he has multiple convictions for burglary, theft, supplying contraband and disorderly conduct.

Officers said they found him sitting in a chair nursing a beer.
