Youths will be collecting Sunday for Souper Bowl of Caring

Several Valley churches plan to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring on Sunday, a national youth fundraiser that collects donations for local food banks and other charities. The program is national, but donations stay in the community where they are collected. Youths usually stand at the door after services with a soup pot in hand to collect money.

• The youth group at Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will collect money following the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services.

• Volunteers from the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will also be collecting donations following the 8 and 10 a.m. Masses on Sunday. In addition, the church will host its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The public is welcome. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave. Call the church office at 926-6450 for more information.

• Peace Lutheran Church will collect funds for the Souper Bowl of Caring after the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service. The donations will be given to the Spokane Valley Partners food bank.

The church will also host an Ash Wednesday Taize service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The service will be preceded by a soup supper at 6 p.m. The church is at 4124 N. Harvard Road. Call the church office at 922-9021 for more information.
