NW Christian tops Liberty

Hayley Hendricksen scored 19 points and Brianna Bailey added 12 to lead Northwest Christian to a 56-51 win over Liberty in the first round of the District 7 2B tournament Tuesday at Spokane Falls Community College.

The Crusaders (17-3) trailed by three after three quarters but outscored the Lancers 24-16 in the fourth to seal the deal.

Kelly Hennessey tallied a team-high 10 points and Alexa Heiydt and Teara Cornmesser added nine apiece for Liberty (9-12).

In other district action, Katlin Fowles scored 10 points to lead Lind-Ritzville (17-3) to a 43-27 victory over Selkirk at Spokane Community College. Maria Villegas tallied a game-high 13 points to lead the Rangers (10-10). … Elsewhere at SCC, Lena Leverett-Standal scored all of her game-high 13 points in the second half and St. George’s beat Reardan 43-25. Chessey Thomas and Lizzie McQuade added 10 points apiece for the Dragons (19-2), who will play Lind-Ritzville Thursday at SFCC with the winner earning a berth to the state tournament. Reardan (11-9) and Selkirk will play in a loser-out game Thursday at SCC. … Wilbur-Creston’s game against Springdale at SFCC was postponed by weather conditions and will be made up today at Reardan.

Camille Reynolds scored a game-high 18 points and Ali Whitted added 10 points and nine rebounds to lead host Lakeland to a 49-36 win over Sandpoint in a 4A Region I tournament game at Rathdrum. Kortney James had 10 points for the Bulldogs (8-14), who will host Moscow (0-21) in a loser-out game today. The Hawks (6-14) will host the winner of that game Thursday for a state berth.

Anna Albrecht scored 17 points and Shelby Cheslek added 12 to lead Pullman (15-1, 10-0) to a 58-48 Great Northern League win over host West Valley. Shaniqua Nilles tallied a game-high 20 points for the Eagles (12-3, 7-2). … Elsewhere in the GNL, Samie Carlander scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Riverside to a 49-46 victory over host Medical Lake. The Rams (8-8, 2-8) outscored the Cardinals 13-6 in the second quarter to take a 24-18 lead into halftime. Kaitlin McNeill led Medical Lake (6-9, 4-5) with 10 points.

Alisa Moehrle scored a game-high 24 points to guide Colton (17-2, 10-2) to a 58-39 win over host LaCrosse-Washtucna at LaCrosse in both teams’ final Whitman County League game of the season. Meghan Startin led the Tigercats (11-9, 4-8) with 10 points. The league tournament starts Thursday in Endicott. … Rosalia’s game at Garfield-Palouse was postponed by weather conditions and will be played today.
